While these are both massive SUVs, the 2026 GMC Yukon XL boasts class-leading cargo room. The three-row SUV seats up to eight and has a large 41.5 cubic-foot cargo area. With the rear seats down, the space expands to a whopping 144.5 cubic feet. The Ford Expedition Max, on the other hand, only has a 37.4 cubic-foot cargo area. It tops out with just 123.1 cubic feet of maximum-available cargo space.
Technology
The 2026 GMC Yukon XL certainly shines in terms of technology. It comes standard with an expansive 16.8-inch advanced color LCD display. The vertical tablet-style display features Google built-in capabilities, wireless smartphone integration, and SiriusXM® with 360L satellite radio. The Ford Expedition Max offers similar features, although the screen is only 13.2 inches. Plus, the GMC Yukon XL also comes standard with wireless device charging, which is only an optional feature in the Ford Expedition Max.
Interior Space
It’s tough to compete with
GMC SUVs when it comes to refinement. The 2026 GMC Yukon XL comes standard with premium features such as heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and leather seating surfaces. You’ll have to opt for a higher trim in the Ford Expedition Max to get the same amenities. The GMC SUV also offers top-of-the-line features such as the 16-way power front seats with massage and an eight-inch rear touchscreen for climate controls, which you won’t find in the Ford SUV.
