Engines

The 2023 Chevy Traverse is only available with one engine, a 3.6-liter V6 that produces 310 horsepower. The 2023 GMC Yukon is available with three different engines, including two larger V8 gasoline engines and a turbo-diesel option.

So while the Chevy Traverse maxes out at 310 horsepower, the output of the GMC Yukon can rise as high as 420 horsepower. This can affect these SUVs’ other capabilities as well.

Towing Capacity

The 2023 GMC Yukon can tow more thanks to its more powerful engines and an available max trailering package. It can tow up to 8,400 pounds when properly outfitted. The 2023 Chevy Traverse can only tow a maximum of 5,000 pounds.

Technology and Features

The GMC Yukon can also be equipped with technology features that you won't find in the Chevy Traverse.
