What is the GMC Powertrain Warranty?
Buying a new vehicle comes with many questions, such as, “Which trim level should I choose?” and “What is GMC powertrain warranty?“. While your ideal trim is up to you, we can help you learn more about the powertrain warranty. We’ve put together a helpful guide at Rick Weaver GMC.
What’s a Powertrain?
Your vehicle’s powertrain is responsible for its movement. It produces power and delivers it to the road surface. The powertrain is composed of many different components, including your engine, transmission, driveshaft, axles, and differentials. An electric vehicle, on the other hand, features an electric motor and battery instead of an engine. Hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicles contain both.
What Does the GMC Powertrain Warranty Entail?
All new GMC vehicles come with a GMC Powertrain Warranty. It covers any issues in your powertrain due to defects from your vehicle’s original materials and workmanship. The warranty typically lasts for up to five years or 60,000 miles (whichever comes first).
What Parts are Covered?
The warranty covers the cost of the labor for your repairs and any new GMC parts that you need. The warranty covers several parts, including the many components of your engine (engine block, timing gears, oil pump, etc.), your transmission, transfer case, and your drive systems. There are exclusions to your warranty, though. The parts that aren’t covered include your radiator, hoses, coolant, wiring, connectors, sensors, and cooling lines.
What Do You Do if You Need Repairs?
If you need a warranted repair, it’s easy to schedule the repairs you need. All warranty work must be completed by a GM-authorized service center because work completed at an independent shop isn’t always eligible for reimbursement. Our GM-trained technicians are happy to provide the expert care that you need. We encourage you to visit our service center first to have your vehicle diagnosed to ensure that it is a warranted repair. We’ll also let you know an approximate timeline for your repairs and can provide a loaner vehicle, if necessary.
