2.7-liter TurboMax engine

You’ll always get major performance out of the powerful engines in GMC trucks. The GMC TurboMax™ engine is also efficient and built to last. Rick Weaver GMC shares what gives it so many impressive traits and how you can protect yours.

Smart Design

With its innovative design, the GMC TurboMax™ engine manages to have diesel-like qualities. Its many features, such as its high-strength engine block and iron engine block liners, enhance its durability. It’s also incredibly strong, with a fully forged steel bottom end, pistons with cast-iron ring carriers, and more. It also has many features designed to improve its performance, such as an electric water pump for constant cooling.

GMC Trucks

There are two trucks equipped with the GMC TurboMax™ engine – the midsize 2026 GMC Canyon and the full-size 2026 GMC Sierra 1500. The engine is found in the GMC Sierra 1500 Pro, SLE, and Elevation models. It is the only engine offered for the GMC Canyon. In both trucks, the 2.7-liter TurboMax™ four-cylinder engine generates up to 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque.

Increasing its Longevity

As we’ve mentioned, the GMC TurboMax™ engine is durable, so it’s built to stand the test of time. However, it’s easy to strain an engine and shorten its lifespan. To get the most out of your new GMC truck, we encourage you to prioritize routine maintenance. Engine oil changes and filter replacements, in particular, can help protect your engine. Even tire rotations can reduce engine strain, because you’re limiting uneven wear, which can increase drag.
